General Information

This policy explains which data is processed when using findflies.net, for what purposes this takes place, and what rights you are entitled to.

In short: findflies.net operates with minimal data processing. No personalized user profiles are created and no social media plug-ins are used. For anonymized statistical analysis, we use a privacy-friendly configured Matomo instance without cookies.

Types of Processed Data

When using findflies.net, the following data may be processed depending on your interaction:

What data may be collected?
  • Personal Data: Name, email address, phone number or other information that you actively submit (e.g. via contact request).
  • Communication Data: Contents of messages you send to us (e.g. via email).
  • Device Data: Technical information (e.g. browser type, operating system) as well as a shortened or anonymized IP address where technically possible.
  • Usage Data: Technical access data (e.g. accessed pages, time of access) insofar as this is necessary for operation and security. This may also include IP addresses processed to ensure security and stability.
  • Location Data: The country may be roughly derived from the IP address. If used, this information is processed only anonymously and for statistical purposes.

Purposes of Processing

Processing takes place for the following purposes:

Provision of the Website and its Functions: To ensure findflies.net functions reliably (e.g. page delivery, error handling).
Communication and Support: To respond to inquiries and provide support.
Improvement of the Service: Only anonymized and aggregated evaluations of technical access data – without tracking, without profiling.
Security: Protection against misuse, attacks and unauthorized access (e.g. detection of anomalies in server logs).
Marketing: For marketing purposes, only anonymized search terms are stored – without linking them to individuals or profiles.

Legal Basis

The processing of personal data is based on the GDPR:
  • Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest) Operation, security and stability of the website (e.g. server logs).
  • Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR Processing inquiries / communication when you contact us.
  • Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR Where consent is required (e.g. optional features).

Storage Duration

Data is stored only as long as necessary for the respective purpose. Server log data is generally deleted after no later than 30 days unless security-relevant events require longer retention. Contact inquiries are deleted after final processing unless statutory retention obligations apply. After termination of a contractual relationship with our hosting provider, personal data will be deleted or destroyed in accordance with contractual agreements, unless statutory retention obligations prevent this.

Recipients / Hosting

To technically provide our website, we use a hosting service provider as a processor pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. Our systems are operated by Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany). A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR has been concluded with Hetzner. Processing generally takes place in data centers within the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA). Processing by subprocessors or in third countries only occurs where necessary for specific services and exclusively under the requirements of Art. 44 et seq. GDPR (e.g. adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses). Personal data is not transferred to third parties for their own purposes. Hetzner may use additional subprocessors to provide services. These are contractually bound pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR and may process personal data only in accordance with instructions. Changes to the list of subprocessors are communicated in accordance with contractual agreements. Data sovereignty remains at all times with us as the controller. The hosting provider processes data exclusively according to our instructions and not for its own purposes.

Third Country Transfers

Personal data is generally not transferred to countries outside the EU or EEA. If processing in a third country becomes necessary in individual cases (e.g. through approved subprocessors of the hosting provider), this will occur exclusively under the conditions of Art. 44 et seq. GDPR and in compliance with an adequate level of data protection.

Rights of Data Subjects

Depending on the individual case, you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. As findflies.net does not operate user accounts and does not create personal usage profiles, many technical data sets cannot usually be assigned to a specific individual. If you nevertheless submit a request, we will examine which data can be assigned based on the technically available information. To exercise your rights, a simple notification to datenschutz@findflies.net is sufficient.

Right to Lodge a Complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority regarding the processing of your personal data. The authority responsible is generally the authority at your place of residence or at the registered office of the controller. In the event of a personal data breach, we will inform the competent supervisory authority and affected individuals in accordance with Art. 33 and 34 GDPR where legally required.

Data Security

We protect personal data through appropriate technical and organizational measures within the meaning of Art. 32 GDPR. These include encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL), secured server infrastructure and role-based access concepts. Our hosting provider implements documented technical and organizational measures that are regularly reviewed. Our hosting provider is subject to regular independent audits (e.g. certifications or external audits) to ensure compliance with data protection requirements.

Even though we use modern security standards, a residual risk in electronic communication and data storage can never be completely excluded.

Cookies

findflies.net uses exclusively technically necessary cookies required for basic functions (e.g. security-related settings or session functions). No analytics, tracking or advertising cookies are used. This may also include a technically necessary cookie that stores your objection to statistical analysis.

Statistical Analysis with Matomo

For anonymized statistical analysis of the use of findflies.net, we use the open-source software Matomo. Matomo is operated on our own servers hosted by our hosting provider as a processor. Personal data is not transferred to third parties for their own purposes. Processing takes place without cookies and without the creation of personal user profiles. The IP address is anonymized (shortened) before storage so that no direct personal reference can be established.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). Our legitimate interest lies in statistical analysis for technical optimization, stability assurance and user-friendly further development of our services.

The collected statistical data is stored exclusively in anonymized form. Raw data is deleted or anonymized as soon as it is no longer required for statistical evaluation (generally no later than 30 days).

You may object to anonymized statistical processing at any time. Your objection is stored in the browser storage (localStorage) and prevents statistical processing on that browser. If you use another browser or another device, the objection must be set again. If the objection is active, statistical processing is technically prevented.

Social Media

findflies.net does not use social media plug-ins. No automatic data transfer to social networks takes place.

There are no embedded like buttons, pixels or automatic share integrations.
